Classes

Keelboat Class: If you have never sailed before or have limited experience, this class will get you started with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of sailing. Beginning sailing can be intimidating. I am here to make sure that your experience is both safe and rewarding. All our classes are on the "EMMA ROSE," a Cal 36. She has a roller furling jib, wheel steering and a diesel engine. All factors that will help you build confidence right away. At the basic level you'll learn sailing terminology and its applications, knots, points of sail, rules of the road and an introduction to docking and more. All classes are "hands-on," aboard the "EMMA ROSE." After this class you are on your way to cruising!

CRUSING: Cruising curriculum includes docking and maneuvering under power and sail, heaving-to, crew overboard recovery, reefing while underway, correcting for weather helm, current and tide analysis, and basic navigation and chart work. UPON SUCCESFUL COMPLETION of the class, students are eligible to charter the Cal 36.

ADVENTURE SAILING: SOUTH: Sail aboard the "EMMA ROSE" for 2-4 day cruises to CAPE COD. We will sail to the CAPE COD CANAL, catch the current and anchor in Mattapoisette Harbor. Depending on the the number of days you choose to sail, we will continue on to Block Island. One night on Block Island, then a non-stop run back to Marblehead Harbor.

ADVENTURE SAILING: NORTH: Rockport Harbor will be our first overnight. The next day we will sail to ISLE OF SHOALS. Once again, depending on the length of our journey, we will sail to PORTSMOUTH HARBOR for the night. Our sail back to Marblehead will be non-stop.

REFRESHER CLASS: Dust off your topsiders and come join us for a one day tune up in preparation for getting back on the water on your own. We will be covering all the essential skill sets that are easy to forget, if you haven't been sailing on a regular basis. This one day informal class is for former students or sailors with some experience who haven't sailed in a while and are interested in brushing up in preparation for the up and coming sailing season. Emphasis is placed on points of sail, reefing, crew overboard recovery and docking.

TEAM BUILDING: Race the "EMMA ROSE", with 6-passengers, on a WEDNESDAY NIGHT RACE. Compete with a group from your office in a sailing regatta in MASSACHUSETTES BAY. Or, have a group sailing lesson. All "HANDS-ON" instruction, then sail for the afternoon around the islands off Marblehead.

A sail upon the Emma Rose will be a memorable event for all who experience her.
